In case you are just getting to meet me here in Rae Dunn land let me share a little before story that will fill you in on why I quit buying Rae Dunn. It all began two years ago when I was on Instagram and saw all the cute mugs people were buying. I am a Marshalls, Tjmaxx , Homegoods kinda gal and to be honest I never noticed the Rae Dunn Mugs until one day I saw a Rae Dunn Happy one. This was my first purchase into the Rae Dunn world and I instantly felt happy. How can a mug with letters on it invoke a happy feeling? Perhaps Rae Dunn herself puts a little pixie dust into each mug to make you feel a little giddy!
I love to shop and as I started to frequent my beloved Marshalls or TJX companies to us shopping professionals I began to see more and more Rae Dunn. Everytime i would go shopping I would look for these items first, I found mugs, bowls, platters. I began to get excited when I would see new ones come out each season. I started purchasing anything that looked cute, ones for the kitchen like Flour, Coffee & Sugar. I got bowls with sayings like Eat, Pinch or Dash. Then the Spring ones came out and I got ones with easter bunnies on them and carrots, the summer arrived I ran to the store to find Travel, Explore, Icecream & Swim.
Your probably thinking how exciting right? or maybe at this point your thinking girl you are a Dunn Addict. I joined facebook groups for Rae Dunn where women trade, talk about their new rae dunn purchase or show off a cute vignette of their new Rae Dunn found treasure. I posted on Instagram, found a local Rae Dunn group and helped find items for others.
I was having fun and then something happenned. What is it, What was it? Oh my did some of your Rae Dunn break? Did you husband find out that all your money was going to mugs? No my friends Halloween happenned! I had never experienced a Rae Dunn halloween, I never had any halloween mugs before. I ran out of the house early multiple times and went to 10 different stores picking up Potion, Haunted, Wtiches Brew & Boo . I was still wasn’t happy I wanted that dam Hocus Pocus I saw on instagram! Some how I could not rest until I found one! I began to realize maybe I am Dunn addicted to this stuff!
I looked around my house and every inch was full of mugs, bowls & platters. I had no room for anything else and I started to feel not so Happy. I love decorating but too much of any one thing is not good.
I vowed in 2019 no more Dunn purchases. I have enough, perhaps I may even sell some. I will always love Rae Dunn and continue to have fun with my vignettes and posting but I feel free, I am no longer running to the store for the latest Rae Dunn, feeling left out if I see something on Instagram that I dont own . I love vintage & french country so I have been doing thrift store shopping and it makes me so happy. Have you over Dunn it?
